While we all stayed home during the Covid-19 crisis, a lot of time is spent in our homes pondering when we will be able to return to our normal lives and what that new normal would look like. "Waiting with Paco" is just that. It depicts Brandy King-Mason (my wife) and our dog, Paco peering out a window at the city of Seattle waiting for a time when Covid-19 is behind us so we can safely re-enter the world again.

I painted this as a salute to women in the medical field on the front lines of the pandemic. She is a scientist. This is what a scientist looks like. The woman in my piece is holding a glowing discovery in honor of all of the women who have discovered before her and all the women she has led to discover after her. She is Essential.
